This presentation is easy on the eyes and the photography beautiful. The narrative flows along the same colorful lines like good music.

  2. Thank you. Simplicity opens the way to flexibility of content.
It will be varied and at times provocative. My wish is that it is always rewarding.

  3. I’m jealous you know so much of your local history. If there was one area of learning that I could go back in time to pay more attention to, it would be history. I have a slight case of ADHD, so unless I’m reading about historical battles, it can be hard for me to concentrate. This post was just the right length, kept me interested throughout, and short enough that I didn’t lose my way.

  4. Pleased to hear you enjoyed the story. I enjoyed writing it. Our family has a tradition of oral history. A great aunt of mine was one of 2 primary resources for the Irving Archive. More information on Irving is in their link at the bottom of the post. For a good presentation of Texas History refer to the link under the one for Irving.

Since you enjoyed the battle scene, you might try, Independence Day Weekend – This Date in History, July 2nd. This post covered the first signing of the ‘Declaration’. Second article in the post is about the Union defense of Little Round Top at Gettysburg. The position was on the extreme left flank of the Union Army. Failure here would have resulted in envelopment of the Union lines; the south would have gained the high ground.

Thank you for your review and comments. Please come back.

  5. Reblogged this on welcome to my place and commented:

My Three Forks Blog – Battle of Village Creek recaps events that lead to anglo settlement in what is now the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.. Let me know if you find it interesting.

  6. It’s fantastic that, in an age where most of the population is mobile and goes where the work is, you still live in the same area as your ancestors from over 150 years ago. It must be a lovely feeling to feel so rooted in the place where you live…

A clear, concise and interesting look back into your family’s history. 🙂

  7. This piece of writing will help the internet people for setting up new blog or even a blog
    from start to end.
