“The Rules” are:
If you are one of the nominees for the One Lovely Blog Award you must do the following:
- Thank the person who nominated you and link to them in your post.
- Share seven unknown things about yourself.
- Nominate other bloggers and blogs you like or admire… 15 or so if possible (see below my list…)
- Contact the bloggers you nominate to let them know and to link them back to your post so they can read “The Rules,” too.
The second “rule” demands that you share seven unknown things about yourself… This is my list:
1) In 2011 my weight was much higher than it should be. By monitoring caloric burn and intake, I lost fifty pounds.
2) I was a class VP in college.
3) I sang bass in high school and college choruses.
4) I was a Civil Air Patrol cadet officer.
5) I am the son of a Pearl Harbor Attack survivor.
6) For a few years, I lived in a house with a wood stove, no indoor plumbing and loved it.
7) I have driven non-stop to a destination 975 miles away.
And now… The Nominees for the “One Lovely Blog Award” in no particular order are:

Congrats Rich, you definitely deserve it! Thanks so much for the nomination~ I am honoured! 🙂
How could I not nominate your blog after all the inspiration you’ve shared there?
Thank you so much, Rich! I’m honored.
You are most welcome!
WordPlay is a constant resource of reliable information and as such encouragement.
Thanks so much Rich! Wow! No wonder you have stories to tell. Non-stop! That must have been some gas tank!
Where was that cabin? That was roughing it for sure.
Congratulations on your weight loss and the nomination!
Yikes, Susie ~ you got me on the Gas Tank.
I should have said I stopped only for gas and snacks! On the primitive conditions, we lived in an old tenant house for awhile after buying the farm and prior to moving into a modern dwelling. Enjoyed it, really!
Congratulations on the nomination!
Hahaha! We drive to Wisconsin every year and I know how long that trip can be, but I have always traded off driving. 975 miles yourself is amazing! Danny did that because of necessity when he traveled back to Wisconsin in a day, before we got married! You guys are troopers!
Thank you! I can blame him seeing how he had you in his sights, LOL
🙂 You are so nice Rich! Thanks!
Thank you, Susie 🙂 I enjoy keeping up with your compelling stories and the changes of season north of Denver. 🙂
Hey there, Rich! Thanks for the nomination. 🙂
975 miles straight! Wow! I pulled just about the same distance once. No fun. Had a buddy who suddenly developed a fear of cars when we were in Florida. Had to make it back to Michigan for class the next day. Lots of caffeine for me, and lots of valium for him.
You’re welcome. 🙂
If memory serves me right, your blog was one of the first social media blogs I followed after starting in social media last summer.
As to that drive. It was from Fort Worth, Tx to Saint Paul, MN. I made three such trips, non-stop both ways while producing a video for a Fort Worth based company with a project there. 🙂
Hi Rich, Congratulations on the well deserved blogger award. Thank you for sharing these new windows into your world. I didn’t know you sang, do you still sing? Thanks for including me in your list of blogs here, and for the new connections to writers I’m discovering here.
Hi Jennifer, Thank you and I’m honored to have been on the previous nomination with you that was given by Laural LME.
Please do check out the other blogs. These are good, talented writers with diverse backgrounds.
It has been years since I sang in public but I still have a deep appreciation for music, performing arts and fine art. After reading American Dream, I sense we have much of that in common. 🙂
I used to drive non-stop from Two Rivers WI to St. Louis Park, MN (about 300 miles) and thought that was a long drive (no pit stops). Can’t imagine over 900 miles alone. Hope you had a good radio! (I see Susie drives to Wisconsin, too.)
Thank you for nominating me for the One Lovely Blog Award, Rich! I appreciate the honor. I will prepare my answers and choose my nominees wisely before posting all in October!
Hi Gail, I do need to add that I stopped for gas, pit stops and snacks but that is all. I drove from Fort Worth, Tx to St. Paul, Mn. Fortunately I had a good radio. I’m pleased to hear you will be posting. There were far more good bloggers out there than I could nominate.
Thank you for the kind words. 🙂
Thank you Rich! So happy to read your post, what a wonderful group of nominees! Hi Everyone, I will definitely enjoy reading more about you all and of course glad to see J.J. Brown in this list 🙂
I’d love to listen to you sing, Rich!
Wishing you all a great week!
You’re welcome, Laura!
Thank you for the nomination and I agree this is a wonderful group of nominees. 🙂
Again, I’m honored to have been listed with the folks on your list 🙂 As to me singing, in the choirs and choruses, we sang classics for the most part. I’m afraid my favorite pop-genre was 60s folk. While passé now, those tunes continue to resonate with me.
Thanks Rich for nominating me. Wait…do I have to sing? I like to sing at church but in front of the whole Internet? 🙂
You’re welcome, Lynn but maybe that is something you want to add in your list of mostly unknown facts. I do hope you’ll post and add some nominees. Thank you for your ongoing support and the work you do keeping us informed. 🙂
I will definitely do a blog post regarding this award. I’m just really behind since my computer fizzled out on Friday. I’m grateful it is working again. So much to do…so little of me to do it all. 🙂
No problem, Lynn. Thanks again for your comments! 🙂
So glad to see many of those I wanted to nominate here – Moonie
Thanks so much for nominating me ~ you always know how to make me smile. 🙂 Congrats on receiving the award yourself, much deserved!
Congrats on getting rid of 50 pounds, that’s fabulous. As to the cabin with no indoor plumbing: I can’t even go camping because I don’t like to be one night without indoor plumbing ~ lol. 😀
Thanks for sharing a list of other writers, some of whom I don’t know; I will definitely check out their blogs.
Cheers my friend!
You’re welcome! 🙂 Thank you for your compliments and please do check out the other bloggers. You’ll find impressive pages when you do.
Your blog presents a good balance of information for better living, good advice to writers, and some fabulous recipes! 🙂 Keep ’em coming!
Cheers to you as well, my friend!
What a varied background you have, Rich! I love that you sang bass in choir. 🙂 And good for you for managing your weight and health.
Thanks for the great award! It’s an honor—one you deserve, too. Congrats!
It has been a trip for sure, August! Thanks for the compliments. 🙂
You’re welcome, and you deserve the reward yourself. 🙂 If your schedule permits, I would love to see your nominees should you choose to so so.
Once again, Congrats to you for your always insightful blogs! 🙂
